HOW IT WORKS

RecoveryPump delivers an aggressive but very natural alternative to passive recovery for athletes. Our system simulates localized "active recovery" (such as walking) in a passive manner because the therapy is conducted at rest.

Use of RecoveryPump's sequential compression therapy 1-2 hours per day will produce results similar to the benefits of 12-48 hours of rest.

  • This therapy increases venous return, rapidly accelerating the body´s re-absorption of the elements causing soreness and fatigue in the muscle.
  • It effectively removes metabolic waste faster than any traditional mode of recovery or rest alone

 SCIENCE

How the Human Body Removes Metabolic Waste

Our lymphatic system and blood vessels work together to flush waste from our cells naturally. Muscular movement, however, is needed to stimulate this process because the lymphatic system does not have a pump, like the heart does. Often athletes will perform light exercise to achieve this muscle contraction and increase circulation in the body, thereby reducing soreness in the muscles.

RecoveryPump Expedites Post-Workout Recovery

Although the human body naturally excises waste that causes soreness and fatigue, this takes time. RecoveryPump delivers serious athletes an aggressive but very natural alternative to passive recovery that far exceeds the results achieved from many traditional modes of recovery. Our system simulates localized "active recovery" in a passive manner because the therapy is conducted at rest.

What Happens When You Use Your RecoveryPump?

Active sequential compression like the RecoveryPump increases venous return, rapidly accelerating the body's reabsorption of the elements causing soreness and fatigue in the muscle. Specific levels of compression, measured in mmHg, increase circulation at all levels of the venous system - Deep Veins, Saphenous Veins, Superficial and Perforator Veins - effectively removing metabolic waste faster than any traditional mode of recovery or rest alone.

Speed up your body's own natural means of recovery and quickly climb back to your peak performance levels with the proven technology that addresses muscle pain at its source.

FAQ

When was RecoveryPump Founded?

RecoveryPump opened its doors to the athletic community on January 1, 2011 after decades focusing on the medical side of the business, supplying compression pump therapy to patients and doctors. The results this therapy has produced for those suffering from arterial and venous disease, lymphedema and other circulatory problems like diabetes have been tremendous. The desire to bring this same therapy to athletes, trainers, sports practitioners and others birthed the concept for RecoveryPump.

How long has this type of compression therapy been in existence?

Compression therapy has been used effectively since the 1960’s, primarily within the medical community. Much like the compression socks you see athletes wearing today (which were used in hospitals long before the athletic community embraced their use), pneumatic (air) compression like the RecoveryPump System is now being used outside of the medical field for serious athletes to reduce muscle fatigue and increase circulation.

How does pneumatic(air) compression therapy work?

The RecoveryPump System increases blood circulation through the sequence of applying compression to help clear metabolic waste build-up and restores the natural delivery of oxygen and nutrients to the muscle. The RecoveryPump System can be used daily as an aggressive recovery treatment for fatigued muscles.

We challenge you to take your recovery as seriously as a training or nutrition regimen and use the RecoveryPump every day. You can cash in the benefits with stronger training days, reduced risk of injury and faster post-race recovery so you can get back to training and competing.

How does the RecoveryPump System help with circulation?

Massaging action squeezes four air-filled chambers, starting from the foot and systematically filling to the last chamber at the hip. The RecoveryBoots deflate after approximately 30 seconds, allowing blood to flow freely. This cycle repeats itself for the duration of use, forcing the body to evacuate the metabolic waste causing fatigue and soreness in the muscle.

How does this compare to a massage and ice baths?

Massage, ice baths, and the RecoveryPump System achieve very different outcomes. Massage is primarily therapy that works a muscle group, elongates the muscle, forces fluid from it and relaxes or releases the muscle and relieves spasms. Ice baths primarily provide a huge inflow of blood into the area along with significant muscle contraction. For injury, this is desirable to slow the occurrence of inflammation. For muscle recovery after daily training, ice actually slows the process of recovery because it constricts the blood vessels.

The RecoveryPump System treats the soreness and fatigue in the muscle systemically. The System manipulates the venous system rather than the muscle itself to remove inflammation in the joint, soft tissue and muscle tissue by applying compression and increasing circulation. Massage remains an important part of the recovery process and using the RecoveryPump System before a massage will only make the therapist’s job easier and more effective by reducing inflammation. This causes the muscle to relax before a massage treatment begins.

When should the RecoveryPump System be used?

Use the RecoveryPump System prior to working out for 15-20 minutes to energize the venous system and increase circulation before heavy exertion. In essence, the therapy offers a warm-up cycle, allowing you to hit full stride very quickly. Us of the RecoveryPump System is also recommended immediately after a workout for 30-45 minutes. If unable to immediately use the RecoveryPump system after a workout, you will notice great benefit from using the device for 1to 1.5 hours in the evening.

Do the Recovery Boots come in different sizes?

There are 5 different leg lengths available in the Recovery Boots. The girth of the extremity is accommodated by the design of the sleeve and the automatic fitting cycle of the system. The RecoveryPump will deliver the same pressure to large legs vs. skinny legs. The Boots are measured in centimeters from the bottom of the heel to the bottom of the glutes. We have size 75cm, 85cm, 95cm, 105cm and 115cm available. We can properly fit someone from 4’6” to 7’+ plus we will soon have upper extremity garments to treat arm, shoulder, chest and upper back.

Can I use my HSA or FSA card to pay for my RecoveryPump?

Yes. The RecoveryPump System is "OTC" (Over the Counter - No Prescription Required). However, each Plan may differ with regard to expenses covered. Call your provider and give them this information: Recovery Pump Model # 701RA is a Class II medical grade compression device cleared by the FDA with a 510k filing. Recovery Pump, LLC is a registered device dealer in PA.

If you use your FSA card to purchase, they may ask you to submit your invoice once you purchase the device, which will have the Model #.
